Before you get started, just a friendly reminder to you and your Spritz Squad to wash your hands and make sure you practice safe social distancing.
Hosting Aperitivo is easy. You can enjoy it every day of the year before dinner no matter where you are – as long as there’s Aperol, of course! Here are some tips to get you started…
The drink of choice
In combination with friends and snacks, an aperitif is enjoyed in the lead-up to the evening meal – and Aperol Spritz is the most popular aperitif in Italy. Make sure you have a bottle of Aperol, a bottle of Italian prosecco and some soda water. You’ll also need big wine glasses (about 420ml), plenty of good quality ice and fresh oranges to garnish.
Make the perfect Aperol Spritz using equal parts Prosecco and Aperol with a splash of soda. Or, you can prepare a carafe in advance using the same ratio, and then serve as your guests arrive. Watch this video to see how to make the perfect Aperol Spritz:
Aperitivo Hour is about the partnership of food and drink as an appetiser before dinner. Typical Aperitivo snacks include cheese, prosciutto, ham, olives, grissini (Italian breadsticks), bread, anchovies and nuts – but you can also enjoy Aperol Spritz with Italian-inspired dishes like Caprese Salad or Cacio e Pepe served in small portions.
Enjoy it together
The third part of Aperitivo Hour is good company. So share your Aperol Spritz with friends and family in a bar, at your favourite restaurant or at home.
